Workshop

After a wonderfully successful seminar in Tampa, I’m excited to be doing some more teachin next month (Feb 4th & 5th) I’ll be teaching more in depth about design, but also go into specifics about package design with Lena Hyde at her swanky loft studio in West Palm Beach Florida. I can’t wait for that. 90 minutes in Tampa, versus a full day of all things design and getting down to the nitty gritty of creating the high end portrait studio will be very helpful indeed. ) http://jellyfingers.com/registration.pdf we still have just a few spots left for the workshop. If you caught Lena’s seminar in Tampa, you will not be disappointed. It was amazing.

Rangefinder Magazine

A lovely surprise arrived in the mail today. I am always excited to read all the fabulous articles in Rangefinder. It’s any photographer’s dream to be recognized in a professional journal of this magnitude. In this particular issue of Rangefinder, they wanted to highlight what the unique benefits have been for me since I won the Buzz Award earlier this year. It was fun to see it in print like this. Huge thanks to Mitche Graf for putting that together so quickly!

join me in Tampa for DWF January 6th!

I look forward to this each and every year. DWF has it’s annual conference. Usually it’s in Vegas during WPPI, but this year, it’s in sunny Tampa, Florida right on the beach. I’m so honored to be a part of this year’s incredible line up. The DWF truly represents the best of the best in our industry from all over the globe. Speaking here is truly an honor. I really hope to see some of your familiar faces there and meet some of you in one of my mentoring sessions   :)

Here’s the official skinny on the seminar:

Design-o-Matic: graphic design for the non-designer

January 6th, 10:30am

http://www.digitalweddingforum.com/DWC08/schedule.htm

Impressions are everything.  Just ask yourself what impression clients get from your marketing material.  This seminar will teach the importance of planning and executing a graphic design strategy, you will learn how to use the grid system to create a style manual.  This style manual will give your studio a solid and consistent approach to your marketing efforts.Christa will define and illustrate the appropriate use of elements, and principles, and present the method of using grid systems to effectively organize information into a unified design.  She will show you how to create various types of grids within different contexts of layout- brochures, business cards, letterhead, magazine ads, and other promotional pieces, in order to form one cohesive marketing campaign.  Grids eliminate the “start from scratch” approach to your graphic design projects.

Christa Hoffarth has been a full time wedding photographer for six years. Before that, she spent six years as a Financial Analyst and Graphic Designer for KPMG Consulting, traveling nationwide consulting for the Department of Defense. The marketing campaign Christa designed for her own South Lake Tahoe studio was recently awarded first place in the WPPI 2007 Buzz Awards for overall marketing campaigns. Christa recently launched a design company called Jellyfingers, focused on helping photographers with graphic design, marketing, and one-on-one consulting.

Takeaways from this seminar:

  • Learn the six principles of graphic design, and how to use them.
  • Learn the basic design elements that help communicate your desired message
  • Learn to use grids and eliminate the “start from scratch approach to graphic design.

join me and the famed Lena Hyde Feb 4-5, 2008

What can I say about Lena, she’s beyond amazing. She takes spectacular portraits, has an A list clientelle, a kick a** studio in an ultra chic loft in downtown Palm Beach, and she co-founded the incredible online magazine Design Aglow. You could say anything Lena touches turns to gold. Couple that with the fact that she’s willing to share her branding and marketing excellence with a few lucky people at this workshop. It’s only open to a small group. Lena and I, together will give you the 411 on how you can take your marketing and branding efforts to the next level with techniques you will be able to easily apply to your own studio. Discover what it means to have a solid business plan, and assess and set goals in your market. Learn how to design with a methodology instead of with a start-from-scratch approach, using a style manual that will apply across all of your design projects with ease.  Want to know how I make those gorgeous product tags and brochures? I’m going to show you how I do all that custom stuff, with hands on, step-by-step instruction.  Prepare for a solid two days of pure inspiration from every direction.

See the registration form and and info sheet for details. Class size is limited for this date.
